A practice question with the explanation panel open

Built around your state's real test.

Not one generic quiz for every state. Each state has its own questions, rules and test format.

Your state's numbers

Speed limits, parking distances, blood alcohol limits and teen permit rules from your state's own handbook.

Practice tests in the real format

Same number of questions and the same pass mark, including separate road-sign sections where your state has them.

A clear finish line

Pass three practice tests in a row and you're ready. The readiness meter shows how close you are.

Mistakes come back

Questions you miss return until you get them right, so the tricky ones stick.

Real road signs

130 sign questions with the actual US sign designs: shapes, colors and what you must do.

Checked twice

Every question is written from the official handbook, then checked by a second independent review before it's published.

Questions

Is this the official DMV test?

No. First Try Permit is an independent study app. It isn't affiliated with or endorsed by any state DMV or government agency. The questions are written from each state's official driver handbook, and the app links to your state's handbook so you can check anything.

Are these the real test questions?

No app has the real questions; states don't publish their test banks. We write original practice questions from the facts in your state's handbook, match the real test's format, and have every question checked by a second review.

My state isn't listed. What can I do?

We're adding states every week. Pick your state in the app and tap it to request it, or email support@firsttrypermit.com.

Do I need an account or internet?

No account. Once installed, all questions and practice tests work offline.

How do I cancel?

Open Google Play, tap your profile, then Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions, choose First Try Permit and tap Cancel. Cancel before your free trial ends and you won't be charged. Full steps are on the support page.

Is it good for adults and new residents too?

Yes. The questions cover the same knowledge test whether you're 15 or 50, and the app follows your state's test format.

Is it available on iPhone?

Not yet. First Try Permit is launching on Android first.
